Two of the most affordable security camera brands, Arlo and Blink, are currently steeply discounted. The Arlo Essential Wired Video Doorbell is $49.99 (originally $129.99) after a 62% discount, while a five-camera Blink Outdoor 4 bundle is $199.99 (originally $399.99) after a 50% discount, matching its lowest price ever.
Arlo Essential Wired Video Doorbell
As the name implies, this doorbell is wired. If you prefer a low-maintenance option and don’t want to recharge your doorbell’s camera every so often, a wired camera might be the one to go with. The flip side is that the installation requires a little more work up front. On top of the camera itself, you will need an Arlo subscription (which ranges from about $7.99 to $24.99, depending on which plan you choose) to access all the camera’s features. However, there are some things you can still do without a subscription.
As far as security doorbells go, Arlo has the most budget-friendly options compared to the other big-name brands on the market. The Arlo Essential, despite being relatively cheap, doesn’t sacrifice much on the specs: It has a 180-degree field of view, 1,536 by 1,536 resolution, compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, two-way audio, night vision, phone notifications, and cloud storage (with the subscription). You can read a full review of this device on PCMag.
If you’d prefer a higher resolution, consider the second-generation Arlo Video Doorbell for $74.95 with 1,944 by 1,944 2K video.
Blink Outdoor 4
The Blink Outdoor 4 deal is only available for Prime Members. While the single-camera deal matches its lowest-ever price at $64.99 (originally $99.99), it’s not as good, in terms of value, as the 50% off from the five-pack bundle for $199.99 (originally $399.99).
As our review on the Blink Outdoor 4 says, the Blink Outdoor 4 is a great entry-level camera. It uses 2 AA lithium batteries, which last for up to two years, and it’s weather resistant, has motion-activation alerts, a live-view mode (up to five minutes without a Blink subscription plan), shoots in 1080p, has two-way audio, and works with Alexa. It has a 143-degree diagonal view and an optional person-detection feature if you get the Blink subscription plan.
Like Arlo, Blink cameras also need a subscription. You have two options for a Blink subscription plan, which starts at $30 per year. But if you want to use all five cameras simultaneously, you’ll need the Blink Plus Plan, which will cost you $100 a year.
